Jesus Coffin Found??!??

Now there is a headline. American film maker James Cameron has partnered with Simcha Jacobovici to make a film in which they claim a cave in Jerusalem was discovered in 1980 will prove to be the burial place of Jesus, Mary, Mary Magdalene and others.

Here is the link to the story. Here is a link to Time Magazine and this topicThis link from Vision TV advertises the film’s release/broadcast on March 6.

This story should be looked at circumspectly, remember the James burial box that was subsequently seen as a hoax. For a discussion of this development see this post on Alpha and Omega Ministries blog (James White).

  1. Hey Chelsea,

Maybe you misread something, I never said the DNA matched Jesus. I just listed the stories here.

There is no way that we can tell if the DNA belongs to Jesus. In fact the so-called DNA evidence only shows that the two DNA samples they compared indicate people who were unrelated. That is all that can be concluded from the samples. What is especially telling is the lack of information given about the rest of the connections in the 10 ossuaries found. Maybe the documentary on Sunday night will go into more detail, but all that can be shown is the relationships between samples. There is no way that they can demonstrate identity.

  2. Why would Marie Madelaine be barried with jesus and there son?I find that this stuff is a bunch of bull,it is just ways for people to make money..it is always about money!!

What's TheTempleBlog?

The TempleBlog started as my personal blog in October of 2006 with my first post: John Stott – it was a listing of John Stott quotes.

Now it is a different place. I mostly write about two of my convictions: Pacifism and Racism. But I also offer resources: both digital and personal.

If you need Bible Study materials, want to take a more serious look at theology via an online course, or want to dialog with me about ministry and what I call Spiritual Construction, fill out the form here and we can connect and see where the relationship goes.

What is the Church?

I miss going to church on Sunday. Our church has decided to not meet during COVID-19. We are taking what we consider to be the safe, love your neighbor approach. Other churches have chosen  a middle ground approach: modified meetings in public. Others have chosen to simply meet.  Surrounding the challenges and variations  of Sunday
